E-safety
At Bourne, we take E-safety in school very seriously. The Computing and PSHE curriculums both include elements that teach children how to be safe when using the internet and smart devices. In school, we have robust filtering and monitoring systems in place. that will protect the children when they are using the internet. These tools block unsuitable content and generate a report if a child accesses, or attempts to access, websites or searches that are inappropriate so that we can then take necessary actions.
Keeping pupils safe online is, of course, very much a partnership between us in school and yourselves at home. We recognise that monitoring your child’s online activities can be very difficult, with all of the different devices and the numerous apps available to them. Many gaming, video and social media apps have age restrictions that you need to be aware of and most are aimed at a minimum age of 13 to 16 years old. We strongly recommend that children are not given access to these apps until they are the correct age. However, should you decide to allow your child to use these apps, click the button below to find valuable guidance and advice on monitoring their online activity as well as information about the measures you can take to ensure that adequate parental controls are in place. If you have any concerns over your child’s online safety, there are useful links on the last page.
You can also make an appointment to speak to your child’s teacher about any concerns you have over your child’s online safety, including incidents of possible cyber-bullying via the 'Contact Us' tab.
Please note that the school's social media presence is by request only for parents to be kept up to date. Follow requests are monitored and approved by the safeguarding team. We respect the rights of parents and carers if they would prefer that their child's photographs are not to be published in print or online externally. Do please notify the school office accordingly.
